Ailsa Publishing exists solely as the publisher of Alan Jones’ books.
Ailsa Craig is a 1,120 ft high granite volcanic plug, 8 nautical miles west of Girvan, and it houses a famous lighthouse on its eastern side.
It is the home to 32,000 breeding pairs of gannets. It’s ‘Blue hone’ granite can be found in many of the curling stones in use today
The island is sometimes known as ‘Paddy's Milestone’ being roughly halfway on the sea journey from Belfast to Glasgow, a traditional route of emigration for many Irish labourers seeking work in Scotland in the 18th century.
It is the inspiration for the logo for Ailsa Publishing
